***WARNING*** the following post may offend some people!

Well there has been a death in the family.... actually 39!!! and a couple close calls... a Huge dog got in the chicken pen and killed 39 of our chickens!!! The dog also bit into Dolly's (my girl duck) leg, but she is getting around ok. and one hen is literally paralyzed with fright!!!

THE STORY OF MY CHICKENS....
My sister, mom, grandma, and I ordered 25 chicks this spring and waited 2 months for them to come in the mail... yes they arrived one Monday morning at the post office, I walked in and heard... chirp... chirp... oh I was so excited!!! got the precious babies home and in the pen and turned on the heat lamp and gave them food and water!!! Oh they were so small, and didn't move around much, I was kinda worried if they were ok... well I had to get back to work, but at noon when I went home they had gotten so active!!!

they were running from one side of the pen to the other and crashing into the wall!!! It was the cutest thing I had ever seen!!! Well about 12 weeks went buy with the chicks in my garage in a pen...

they were growing so fast I was having to feed and water them twice a day... in that 12 weeks I had worked very hard at fixing a really nice chicken pen out on the south side of our propriety, there was already a "hen house" there (the man before us had hogs in it but it worked for chickens too)

all I had to do was build a fence around for them to have a place to get outside and run around and pick and scratch in the dirt... we put the chicks out side and I was so nervous the first week I was afraid a snake or cat or dog would get them!!! well they make it ok and were growing so much.

It takes a hen 6 months from the time they hatch out to start laying so that meant our girls would start laying in October... there is nothing better than a fresh egg! About 2 months ago, Alta my mother-in-law, had a hen that started setting on some eggs, well she hatched out 14 chicks and Alta gave them to me.

they were alot smaller than the others but I thought they would all get along eventually!!! The morning of August 17th was already a sad day for me, I was going to the funeral of my dear friend Dorine, I went by the house and picked up Donny and we headed to the funeral. Now there is always a red chick out in the yard... she will not stay in the pen, so she started running after the pick up and I joked that she wanted to go to the funeral with us. See Dorine loved chickens and that was one bond that we had!!! So we went to the funeral and the lunch and on the way home we just saw the ducks... and Donny commented that the chickens wern't running to the fence like they always did... so we drove over there and it looked like a scene from a world war 2 movie...

but instead of dead solders laying every where it was dead chickens... feathers every where... time stood still... I cried!!!!

We found dog paw prints and later talked to my mom and she had seen a dog running by there... the boy duck.. Dave... was ok actually he was pissed off... and dolly his girlfriend was limping and her left hip was a little bloody... and in the hen house there was 1 hen who was paralyzed with fright, and a baby chick hiding behind the nests. that evening we went out to pick up all the dead chickens and we found a big black hen that was perfectly ok and protecting that baby!!!! I have named her lucky momma! I am very sad about the loss of the chickens but the ag office is going to let me borrow there incubator! so we will start all over and this time I am going to turn our chicken pen into an unbreakable fortress... hot wire, electric shock fence and razor wire are on my shopping list!!! I dare another dog to try it... I have a 12 gauge waiting for you!!!

This post is about one of my most favorite people in the whole world.... My Sister!!! She is my best friend. She makes me laugh and doesn't judge me when I do stupid things like when the words "I classy." come out of my mouth. She has always been there for me and this is just a little way I can let her know how special she is to me!!!

The first memory I have ever in my whole life that I can remember is when on Kathleen's 1st birthday mom and dad got her a little tricycle, and I told her what they had gotten her!!! I remember she was so cute in her little pink dress!!! I remember even at such a young age that I loved her so much and I was so lucky to have a sister... a few years later when we were living in California and staying with Helen, Kathleen always loved to play grocery store in Helen's kitchen, and I always remember Helen had a potato and onion bin... and always washing something with those paper towels Helen had... and Kathleen was always singing opera... when we started to school at san bernardino christian I can still see Kathleen be-bopin into class with her purple plastic backpack and her stretchy pants (she would not wear jeans). I ignored her some times at school, because I was a 4th grader and way too cool to hang out with, or even acknowledge that I knew a 1st grader(I feel really bad about that now!!!) Now who could forget that perm that mom made us get... and she made Kathleen perm her bangs!!!! poor thing, but looking back now she was so cute!!! I remember laying in my bed and being a lazy hag and yelling for you to come to my room... and then I made you turn off my light and leave my room... I remember you operating on your stuffed animals, your tweety bird curtains that matched your bed spread, your cat that hated me (because I was mean to her). I remember that day when we were driving to school and hit a dog on the 215 freeway!!! and we both screamed and pulled over in very heavy traffic!!! I loved chasing you all thru the house trying to hug you!!! I remember the day I stood up to dad, we were in your room and I ran out there... and then I came running back in to your room shaking cause I just yelled at him... you were always there for me!

Kathleen I look back and realize all the fun times we had together, and I am sorry for those years when I was "too cool" to hang out with you. You are my best friend, my only sister and my favorite person ever!!! I am truly blessed that you live so close to me and we get to have lunch together 3 or 4 times a week and talk on the phone like 6 times a day!!! you are someone I look up to and admire, you are such a strong person and I am honored to have you in my life and call you my sister!!!

Show us your life! wedding party and flowers!!!

I had the best bridesmaids a girl could ask for!!! My sister Kathleen was my maid of honor. My 4 best friends from high school were my bridesmaids!!! Diane, Sarah, Amanda, and Adrienne!!! I found really pretty pink dresses for them to wear, and they were able to pick the style they wanted, Diane and Adrienne picked a halter style top, and Amanda and Sarah went for the strapless top. My sister was my maid of honor so i wanted something extra special for her so her top has lace over lay!!!

This picture was to pay homage to a picture we always did during volleyball in high school, WE
JUST GOTTA SHOW THE GUNS!!!!
The girls made the cutest shirts to wear at the reception (it was very country, in the back yard). They all said brides maid and my sisters said maid of honor!!! I love those girls so much!!! I was truly honored to have them in my wedding!!!

fun week...

Well this has been a very fun week and also a sad one, I got to do a lot of fun things but Donny was gone for 6 days for work so that was a bummer, but thanks to my grandma, sister and mom I made it thru this week!!! I don't have pictures for everything I did but I will try to fill you in the best that I can, buckle up and here we go!

Kathleen and I took Friday off and went to Amarillo to do a ton of errands and to get our hair cut, I didn't get a cut but I got high lites.... and I love them!!! We also squeezed in a pedicure!!! we went to "Nail Time" at the suggestion of our hair dresser, Mandy.... wow what an experience Kathleen had... we walk in and are ushered back to two nice pedi chairs... we couldn't wait to relax... my lady comes up and starts my pedi, then about 10 minutes later here comes Kathleen's lady... eyes red and puffy... tears still streaming down her face.... and she continues to cry thruout Kathleen's entire pedi... and also has to get up and go to the bathroom 3 times!!!! and if you thought that was enough she talked to my pedi lady the entire time about why she was mad!!! and said "F*** her" like 99 times... in English!!! needless to say our relaxing pedicures were not relaxing at all!!!

On that same trip to amarillo we went to HOBBY LOBBY the best store ever, and I purchased this platter for only $6.00!!!! i was so excited to get it at such a discounted price because the original price was $59.99!!!

then when I got it home I realized the sticker said 2PC SET!!!! I got jipped!!!! I only have 1 piece, oh well it still was a great buy and I love it!!!

The garden is growing like crazy, its a full time job that doesn't pay very well!!! even though it doesn't look like it is producing much I swear it is!!!
